SPARC/Solaris UNIX Solutions
Shoden offers SPARC/Solaris UNIX solutions from Oracle for organisations to run their core mission critical databases and applications. With Oracle’s acquisition of Sun Microsystems in 2009, Fujitsu and Oracle have re-signed an agreement to continue the partnership to develop and distribute the SPARC technology. While the T-Series provides organisations with the ideal platform to run their “network” web-based applications, the M-Series provides the performance and core availability for mission critical workloads like databases. Both these technologies are underpinned by one of the leading UNIX operating systems – Oracle Solaris, the #1 Enterprise OS and ideal platform for deploying Oracle Databases.
Key platform benefits
- Performance - With the SPARC64™ VI/VII/VII+ CPU architecture and High-Speed Crossbar integrated into the M-Series range of servers, these SPARC-based systems provide customers with the best price/performance TCO to run key business applications.
- Business Continuity - Fujitsu’s mainframe heritage of providing technology of high resilience and availability is carried forward into the SPARC/Solaris architectures. Memory Mirroring, Parity Checking in the CPU cache, XSCF server monitoring and Full Redundancy on all core components are some of the features that make the SPARC technology from Oracle/Fujitsu ideal for the highest levels of service.
- Virtualization - Businesses are under pressure to adapt and change depending on market conditions. “Hard Partitioning” at a hardware level and “Soft Partitioning” through Oracle Solaris containers allows organisations the flexibility and efficiency to change depending on market demands.
- Investment Protection - The latest SPARC64™ VII and UltraSPRAC CPUs are based on the SPARC V9 architecture, administered by SPARC International Inc. All legacy and new platforms comply with the standards from SPARC International, providing customers with binary compatibility when deploying application on Oracle Solaris.
