Water-Cooled Primecenter LC Racks
Back to product information
Based on the DIN 41494 and IEC 297 industry standards, the PRIMECENTER LC rack enables rack configurations with all Fujitsu Siemens Computers products, such as servers, operating devices and storage subsystems. In addition, it can accommodate other products on the market that are oriented to these industry standards. The challenge at data centers is expedient and economical cooling of hot spots with up to 20 KW per rack .
Our air-cooled PRIMECENTER racks are able to remove heat of up to 20 kW even when filled to capacity with servers. State-of-the-art data centers can dissipate up to 1,500 watts per m², i.e. around 4,500 watts a rack for the required rack area (rack plus free space for service and maintenance) of 3 m². This means that it will soon be necessary to consider new cooling methods, since conventional room cooling will no longer be sufficient or practicable for coming server generations. This is precisely where Fujitsu Siemens Computers offers a solution for dealing with rack heat through water cooling. To enable this, the heat of the servers or subsystems is absorbed in the rack by heat exchangers, and water is used to transport the heat out of the system and the room where the servers are installed. As a coolant, water is 3,500 times better than air. |
